Golubie Kupola

Set inside a tree-lined park in the center of the city, next to the National Museum of History of Uzbekistan, Golubie Kupola has been a fixture of Tashkent since 1970, when it opened to coincide with the 100th anniversary of Lenin's birth. The building blends Soviet-era modernist design with turquoise domes inspired by Samarkand, built in the style of a traditional Uzbek teahouse.

Reviewers consistently describe the interior of Golubie Kupola as striking, with fountains, columns, and domes that once reflected in ornamental pools surrounding the building. Though the pools have since run dry, the structure remains a beloved, nostalgic landmark that draws visitors as much for photos as for dinner in Tashkent.

The menu leans into hearty, traditional dishes: grilled lamb chops, lamb kebabs, naan-grilled fish, steamed dumplings, and pulled noodles, with the restaurant claiming several of its dishes cannot be found anywhere else in Central Asia. Vegetarian and vegan diners in Tashkent are also accommodated, according to recent reviews.

Food quality at Golubie Kupola draws mixed opinions, with some guests praising well-cooked dishes and others describing the taste as merely average compared to the setting. For anyone visiting Tashkent who wants to experience a genuine piece of the city's architectural history alongside dinner, it remains worth a visit, with expectations set primarily around atmosphere rather than a five-star meal.
